After meeting with my Teacher Associate Nick Saler, I have learned that I will mainly or start out with teaching two of the four grade 8 Social Studies classes that he teachers. When I start the social unit will be regarding the Spanish and Aztec peoples. I have been assigned to start the new Japan Unit. I will also be help teach the grade 8 option course Sports Issues 8. This should prove to be interesting, me teaching issues in sports! I am always up for the challenge though. Bring it on!
Nick was kind enough to let me take his teacher resource binder that goes along with the text book that is used in the classroom for Social Studies. That saves me from having to borrow it from the Curr Lab. Now it's time to start planning my unit. Tina and I got to take our teaching out of the classroom today. We had the pleasure of teaching Cooking Club to the grade 4s in Burdett School. We taught our class at the community hall in Burdett which is only about a block from the school. I really had fun doing this lesson. It was also a good opportunity to get to know students in a non-traditional learning environment. |
